Hands down the best one yet, the third book cannot come soon enough!
Debra,
Excellent ReadI love The Guild Codex series。 In this book we learn more about Zac aka The Crystal Druid aka Ghost and his heartbreaking past。 We meet Saber and help her rediscover her past。 A few guest appearances from our favorite MPD agent, Kit。 Highly recommend this particular series as well as the previous series in the Guild Codex world。
Auralia Behnke,
Holy ballsThe tension in this book is so thick。 I can't wait for the next one。 I need to know Zak's side of the story。 God I love these two characters。 They were made for each other。 So many more questions and hopefully we get more answers in the next book。 Holy ballsThe tension in this book is so thick。 I can't wait for the next one。 I need to know Zak's side of the story。 God I love these two characters。 They were made for each other。 So many more questions and hopefully we get more answers in the next book。 。。。more

Finally I can heal from that cliff hanger in the first book! I feel this series continues to be the darkest by this author。 While it is a fantasy romance this main couple Zak and Saber have some deep-rooted anger and trust issues from their past。 In book one we learn a lot about what caused their issues from Saber’s point of view。 In this book it felt like Zak dropped a bomb but it happened so fast you’re not sure what you heard or saw。 There is a major twist in the plot coming when we finally g Finally I can heal from that cliff hanger in the first book! I still have no love at all for Zak’s familiar Lallakai。 It was awesome to see Zak take control and put her in her place in this book。 There are huge reveals about Saber’s past and family and even small pieces of Zak’s family history in this book。 Again I always love when characters from other series are tied in。 Agent Kit Morris makes his return and the story ends with an addition that will broaden the connection to the other Guild Codex series。 I can’t wait to see who shows up in The Twice-Scorned Lady of Shadow。 。。。more

Riveting story! Another great story to pull me into the world Annette Marie has created! I love seeing the depth of Zak’s character being developed in this book。 Saber is no damsel in distress either, but also not completely overpowered。 I can’t wait for the next book!
Mandy Kimpston,
Enthralling The fast pace and amazingly detailed world of this series kept me up later than I should have been to finish this book。 And I'm eagerly awaiting the next in the series, which can't come fast enough。 Enthralling The fast pace and amazingly detailed world of this series kept me up later than I should have been to finish this book。 And I'm eagerly awaiting the next in the series, which can't come fast enough。 。。。more

So I'm not going to lie, I'm a little disappointed with this one。 I hate to say it because I loved the first book in this series。 But this one, I found myself just spacing out and skimming。 Saber I have really mixed feelings about, she comes off as extremely bipolar。 Kind of selfish too。 I understand that she's really not that nice of a character, almost like a whole villain origin story, but I'm really going to need her to pick a struggle。 Also (spoiler) with her being in Crow and Hammer, I hop So I'm not going to lie, I'm a little disappointed with this one。 I hate to say it because I loved the first book in this series。 But this one, I found myself just spacing out and skimming。 Saber I have really mixed feelings about, she comes off as extremely bipolar。 Kind of selfish too。 I understand that she's really not that nice of a character, almost like a whole villain origin story, but I'm really going to need her to pick a struggle。 Also (spoiler) with her being in Crow and Hammer, I hope she doesn't have too much interaction with Tori。 They are both headstrong and stubborn and I just know in real life, that's not a good combo。 Two proud, independent women that don't take shit from anyone。。。 yeah I'm not getting a "besties" vibe off of that。。。Also, why isn't this in Zaks POV? It's mainly supposed to revolve around him and his trials and tribulations but instead he doesn't show up until the fifth chapter in the book and then leaves towards the end。 Idk, this book in this series just felt off。。。 Maybe she's getting burned out on the guild codex series and needs to take a break off of it? Anyway 3 stars for the writing and the action, once again Annette Marie can write her ass off in the best of ways。 。。。more

UnputdownableWell, I started this 6 hours ago。 And I didn't need sleep tonight, right?Annette Marie delivered again。 Saber, somehow, in all her murdery glory, has won me over even more than she managed to in book 1。 She's growing, slowly, and I love seeing it happen。Zak and Rikr were amazing too。 UnputdownableWell, I started this 6 hours ago。 And I didn't need sleep tonight, right?Annette Marie delivered again。 Saber, somehow, in all her murdery glory, has won me over even more than she managed to in book 1。 She's growing, slowly, and I love seeing it happen。Zak and Rikr were amazing too。 。。。more
Hannah,
So good。 I love all the characters so much。 Saber’s character is so unique because of how real she is。 She is the perfect female action protagonist。 I love Ryker and Zak for how committed they are。 The ending is so exciting, I can’t wait for the new book。
Nihal,
3。5this was a 4。5 in the middle but the ending and my final thoughts aren't so positive which sucks bc i had been anticipating this book for the longest。 :/ i loved everything for the most part。 i have few complaints that may stem from my personal preference mostly:- the streak of one-dimensional villians lives on。 he's evil and hard to kill but he dies anyway ok - there were so many tension- ridden closed proximity almost-kisses。 too many。 i was like 'ok may be in the next one they'll kiss 😃' o 3。5this was a 4。5 in the middle but the ending and my final thoughts aren't so positive which sucks bc i had been anticipating this book for the longest。 :/ i loved everything for the most part。 i have few complaints that may stem from my personal preference mostly:- the streak of one-dimensional villians lives on。 he's evil and hard to kill but he dies anyway ok - there were so many tension- ridden closed proximity almost-kisses。 too many。 i was like 'ok may be in the next one they'll kiss 😃' only for there to be NO kisses。 the angst got tiring rq。 i did like the scenes, don't get me wrong, but there was no resolution。 in fact, the whole plot seemed unresolved。 we got vague details of their pasts here and there。 im still unclear on That day。saber wasn't my favourite character in this book。 zak and lallakai were。 I'm so intrigued by their relationship。 since we know so little, my ears perked up at their arguments。 can't wait! til they form a healthy guardian-consort bond。 lallakai was such a bad bitch。 the next book is dedicated to her。 so excited to see her take a bigger role。also what was up with saber walking out in the open first thing in the morning the minute she opens her eyes? not a problem persay but i found it funny, imagining her getting up from the bed, walking down the stairs, squinting at the sun and then walking up to her room lol the ending? I would've preferred a cliffhanger。 zak dissappeared and sabers like oh ill find him later, lemme take a look at my new workplace first。 girl? anyways 。。。more
Brie Fogle,
Y’all ever have those times when you dread starting a book bc you just came to terms with the previous book and you know you’ll be left dying for more when it ends too soon? THATS ME WITH THIS BOOK。 The MCs are brutal and damaged and real and I love them。 Our supporting fae are complex and totally morally grey。 The slow burn angst is PERFECTION。 I devoured in a day and here I am so freaking sad it’s over。
Olivia,
This book felt more like a filler, not much really。。。 happened。 But I still loved it, very well written。 So excited for May!
Lita Acevedo,
Very, very good。 I wasn't able to read this in one setting because RL got in the way, but even with many interruptions, I was able to read it one day。 It was worth the wait to get it and I've already pre-ordered the next book。 I loved the way Saber actually experienced her druid powers。 I also loved that Zak was shocked at how powerful she is and even told her she was much more powerful than him。 While the revelation about Rikr being the Winter King and Saber being a powerful druid whose magic h Very, very good。 I wasn't able to read this in one setting because RL got in the way, but even with many interruptions, I was able to read it one day。 It was worth the wait to get it and I've already pre-ordered the next book。 I loved the way Saber actually experienced her druid powers。 I also loved that Zak was shocked at how powerful she is and even told her she was much more powerful than him。 While the revelation about Rikr being the Winter King and Saber being a powerful druid whose magic he's being feeding off of for the past 7 seven years almost destroyed their relationship, I love that they overcame that and seem to have come to a level of mutual respect。I would love to see Zak and Saber become a couple and realize they love each other。 I also really want to know both sides of the story of what happened that night seven years before。 It will be fun to see the interactions between Saber and the crew of the guild she's been assigned to。 。。。more

So many Answers, So Many Questions!Ok。。。 so I started this book with so many questions regarding how the previous book in the series ended。 Those questions were pretty much answered, but man, was it a ride。 Now that I've finished this book, I have so many new questions! Cina Meyer,
I tried to pace myself but I couldn’t。 Finished this in one day。 I love Zak and Saber and I just want to hug them both。 They both had crappy upbringings and deserve to be happy, but healing isn’t here yet。 We still don’t get to know what really happened on the night of the betrayal but relationships move along in this book。 I loved knowing more about the Winter King。 And that ending! I can’t wait for book three!

Oh my god! The twists and turns this book took。 I love it。 Saber needs to learn about her past and her parents' killer。 Zak comes along for the ride and is still great。 Both of them really need to do the jiggly dance in bed soon。 However, I love the slow pace of their so-called relationship。 I hope we will get a book told from Zak's eyes soon。 Also, Saber was annoying me when her temper and she needs to grow up a bit more。 Zak's life isn't perfect either, and hers isn't as well。 They truly need Oh my god!
